January Update

Hi all. It's been a while! I've been pretty busy here over the christmas and new year period but things are settling down again now. The dealership has been exceptionally busy!! Which has meant more deliveries, more photographs and more advertising. I have been working more independently on these, which I like to do, as it means I get to move at my own pace.

I recently had a bit of an awkward situation at work. A customer had rang up confused as there had been a bit of misinformation an Auto Trader advert that she was looking at. The listing read that the wheels were 20", whereas the video I had done had said the wheels were 21". A small error, however the fact that someone had noticed it and pointed it out wasn't great. The information obviously has to be accurate and consistent so to represent the car successfully. Naturally the issue was addressed by my manager and I was pretty embarrassed that I had overlooked a crucial detail like this. However obviously we all make mistakes, and I now feel much more conscious about ensuring that the information I am going through is correct and accurate. This means that I now identify which cars are needed for photos, get the chassis numbers, search the vehicle, read up on its spec and make relevant notes so that I am including plenty of accurate and important information when I am creating my videos. This takes a bit longer but obviously it is worth it, rather than just relying on saying what I see - as I'm no big car fan, it doesn't come naturally to me and therefore requires a little more thought and preparation. So all in all it was a lesson learnt and it means I will be creating much more informative and accurate videos.

Since this incident I have actually been given further targets related to Auto Trader and new car imagery. I feel more confident now in what I am doing and am happy to have some of my own targets to work towards. The dealership is doing incredibly well on Auto Trader and I am told this is partly down to me! It is a great feeling to feel as though I am helping to generate enquiries and really helping to drive sales. I am still working hard on social media which I enjoy too.

Tomorrow I am going to spend the day at Escalla to work through some coursework. I have a lot that needs submitting before the end of the month, so I'm hoping it will be a productive day! I have to finish off a couple of reports and complete a couple more from scratch. I think I will find it easier to get on with them when I am not at work and having lots of stuff going on around me. Here's hoping anyway! Wish me luck :)

  1. Everyone makes mistakes and it is good that you have learnt from it and moved on. It is lovely that you are making a massive impact at the dealership and even nicer to get that recognition. Well done! You are working hard here at the academy today so I know you will be getting lots done!
