Hi all,
Tour de Swansway 2019 is officially complete!
It was a really fantastic day, everything came together perfectly and the whole event went unbelievably smoothly!
We began by setting everything up, including manoeuvring tables and furniture, decorating the area with banners, bunting and balloons, displaying all our raffle prizes and lots and lots of cakes!! It was great that so many people donated cakes for us to sell and there was definitely something for everyone! The display looked amazing! We ended up taking up a fair bit of space, but in the end I think the change in location was for the best as where we were set up looked great and we had a fair bit of passing trade.
Then the cycling began!!! We wanted to have two people on the bikes at all times, so started by taking it in turns, 2 on, 2 off, for 30 minute stints. We made sure to record the distance that we all pedalled, and kept a running tally of this throughout the day so to monitor what we were covering.
We were really well supported on the day, with many people from the dealership cheering us on, as well as people from head office popping in to support us. I was surprised that some staff even willingly had a go on the bikes!! We had a visit from the Escalla team, armed with even more wonderful cakes from Em which, naturally, went down a treat! Mid afternoon we even had two of the directors have a spin on the bikes! This was great for everyone to see and lots of people rallied around to watch.
We were also really lucky to have a visit from The Cat Radio, a local station in Nantwich. They provided some music on the day, took short vox pop interviews of us all, and even brought another cyclist along; 75 year old Alan Gibbs, a bit of a local celebrity who cycled for a whole hour!! We also had a visit from a couple of the staff from Total Fitness, and these gave us a few tips and had a go themselves. As you can tell there was lots of willing volunteers which meant that we managed to get away with not too much biking on the day!!
Overall, it was a really great day and 100% worth all the planning and stresses of the last few months! There was plenty of cake eaten, miles cycled and most importantly, money raised... thanks to a wonderful contribution from the Directors, our grand total stands at over £1,700!
I am very proud of us all and overall really enjoyed the citizenship project, we definitely have plenty to write up for it!
Thank you to everyone who helped, from the teams at Escalla, Swansway, and here at Crewe Audi :)
I have attached a few photos from the day below!
