Hi all,
This week was spent at Escalla! There was a lot to take in, and I learnt a lot.
I did more work on the Online and Offline Marketing report which I'm now going to finish off over the next couple of weeks and ensure it is all completed and looking good. For the most part, this week was spent learning new theories and information in preparation for our first exam. We covered many things, including:
- the components of a marketing campaign
- competitor analysis, including SWOT and PEST techniques.
- audience identification/segmentation
- value proposition
- Customer Relationship Marketing - including basic marketing, reactive, proactive, accountable, Guerilla, Partnership, targeted, collaborative and soft selling.
- Audience engagement
- Legal, Regulatory and Ethical marketing - this includes the many different acts and laws, including: consumer contracts regulations, copyright, designs and patents act, creative commons, equality act, sales of goods act, trade descriptions act, and much more.
- ASA advertising codes - non-broadcast code and broadcast code
- Risk Management
- Return on Investment (ROI)
- Key pinch points/ drop out points
We added all of these bits to the report and I created revision notes along the way. Towards the end of the week we had some free time to revise. This time was really valuable and we found that talking through some of the topics really helped our understanding, particularly the topics that were quite hard to grasp. Talking it through meant we could ask each other questions, collaborate our thoughts and ideas, and learn from each other, and we all walked away feeling more confident.
We completed a few mock tests throughout the week as well as some revision quizzes on Kahoot. I scored well in these so I hope its a similar story for the real deal! I found the exam fairly difficult, however if I fail it this time I am confident I can pass it again. The way the exam is worded is quite difficult, and it really depends on the luck of the day, what questions come up and how they are worded. So we will see- I don't think it is my knowledge that is lacking, more just how it goes on the day.
For this week, I will be catching up on anything I've missed. We have the VIP Event at the end of the week. I haven't had much involvement in this which is a shame, but the planning is done by head office and we have an outside company come in and take care of the actual event for us. I will schedule a couple of social posts for the week and hopefully drum up some more interest for the event and get some more appointments booked in. I'm not sure what my role will be through the event, but I plan to at least get some great content that I can use over the weekend to boost the socials pages.
It will be a busy couple of weeks with the VIP weekend and then the following week we have a student from Shavington High School coming in for a weeks work experience. I am not sure why I have been chosen to show him the ropes but hey ho! Together with Lorna from HR we have come up with a plan for the week; I will be showing him all the things I get up to. I am quite looking forward to it as it's something different for me to do.
Until then it's business as usual!
Have a good week everyone
