Another busy week gone by!

I have mainly been working on my e-newsletter. This has been a lot of work! After speaking with all the managers of different departments, they gave me content they wanted to promote. Once I had all this info, it was up to me to put it all together. The Aftersales Manager wanted an offer in there, and also a piece about one of his team. I decided to do the first one on Kelly, the newest Service Advisor. So, the first thing to do here was arrange a bit of an interview with Kelly. This all went smoothly, and I will be including a write up of this in the first e-newsletter.

On Wednesday, I headed over to marketing to begin working on it. After finalising the different sections and having a bit of a plan in place, it was time to start to put it all together. I worked with David, who suggested to use the creative agency 'Pure' that Swansway have a contract with. We decided to use this method rather than the Laravelle system that Swansway use in house. After comparing examples from both sites, I decided the Pure one looked a lot more professional and more reader friendly, so decided that this was the best option.

The way it works is I write all the copy, find the images I want to use, and put it all down on paper as sort of a rough guide. This brief then gets sent to Pure, who take care of the design part of it; adding backgrounds, colour scheme etc. Below is the initial brief that I sent to Pure. I used a combination of my own images and some from the Audi media library; all free to use. I believe these images look a lot more professional and in my opinion better, but for some of the stories, it was nice to use some of my own photographs.

Pure soon got back to me with their initial first draft, which was great! I just had a few corrections/changes to make, including changing some images, adding a couple of bits in and taking some bits out, which they were happy to accommodate.

We then had to decide when the e-newsletter was going to be sent out. With me including a section in the newsletter about the VIP Event, it obviously had to be sent out before then. We also decided it would be best to send it out after the initial postal and email invitations had been sent out. So, we decided to go with the 7th June; just a week before the VIP event is going to happen, it couldn't have gone out any later, nor any earlier. I still have to decide on the time that it will go out, and still have to add in a couple of click through links that are missing. They are missing due to the post/site they are going to link through to not yet being live. This is another thing I am having to coordinate: one of the links is going to be to an offer on the Swansway website, and the other link is going to be to a Facebook article that I still have to write. It is is slightly tricky to coordinate all of this and to ensure all the timings fit in with each other. With the Facebook article, the nearer the e-newsletter send date this can go out the better, however I have to bear in mind that the creative agency needs to have the links within plenty of time. So it all gets a bit messy!!

It was important to me to include a link to the social media sites as this is what I have been working on heavily for 4 months now!! So any traffic driven to these will be great. I thought including the link to a specific facebook article would drive traffic even further, rather than just the icons at the bottom of the page.

It's been an enjoyable process and it has allowed me to use my creativity and given me more scope to write content, which is my favourite aspect of my role. In all honesty I am not expecting great open and click rates, having seen analytics for some previous campaigns that have been sent, email marketing is quite a low success ball game. But, it's been a good experience. I am potentially be going to run this monthly, or perhaps quarterly, I will see how it goes.

So, that's been the majority of my week! I've also been doing the usual photo and video's, keeping on top of social media, and working on Autotrader. Now the newsletter is out of my hands, I am going to get on with some revision this afternoon. I will wait until the e-newsletter is completely ready before I share it!

Now ready for the bank holiday weekend! Have a good one!
