Escalla Induction

After 5 weeks having flown by.. it was time for the Escalla induction week!!

I was looking forward to this week, a nice break away from the dealership and a chance to catch up with the other Apprentices and see what everyone else has been up to! I was looking forward to beginning my training and beginning to use Skilsure, so I could feel I was really starting to make progress in my apprenticeship.

Throughout the week we covered a range of topics, including:

  • Staying Safe Online Certificate - how to keep yourself safe online - communicating on the internet, etc.
  • Mental Health Awareness Certificate - increasing awareness of Mental Heath issues, how to recognise in the workplace and beyond, signs to look for, how you can help someone you think may be suffering with their mental health.
  • Equality & Diversity ACAS Certificate - recognising the differences in our society and how these should be celebrated, in the workplace, and beyond. Recognising what equality really means and how this can be implemented in our world.
  • DSE Form - information on my workplace, being comfortable at work, ergonomic, health and safety etc.
  • British Values Assessment - democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.
  • Radicalisation & Extremism module Certificate - recognising what radicalisation and extremism is; awareness of what signs to look out for in a person being radicalised, what it can accumulate to, etc.
  • Prevent Online Training course - a Government run course, recognised nationally, focused on radicalisation.
  • Channel General Awareness Certificate - information on Radicalisation and Extremism.
  • Career Development Plan - a chance to explore where I am now and how I plan to move forward in the future and where I aim to end up.
  • Who Can You Trust? Certificate - Online safety certificate.
It was an informative week spent learning lots of new things. Towards the end of the week myself and 5 other apprentices completed a group presentation, to display what we had learnt that week. This was a fun but challenging experience, all trying to share our ideas and get our points across. In the end we decided to present in a more interactive and fun way, encouraging everybody to get up on their feet and join in with an exercise. The presentation was well received by the whole Escalla team and it was an effective way of tying together everything we had learnt in our first week of training.

On Friday, we went through the report structure and began to brainstorm some ideas. I have decided to complete my first report on my Social Media Impact at Crewe Aud since beginning here. I have started this, and plan to continue to work on it whilst at work.

Having completed my Escalla induction week I feel a lot more confident on what is expected of me and the work that I must complete in order to be successful in my apprenticeship. It was great to see the other Swansway apprentices and to catch up and compare notes!  The whole team at Escalla were friendly and welcoming and clear on what is expected of us. I really enjoyed the week and am happy to have gained clarity on a couple of things. I look forward to my next week at Escalla! But for now, having been out of the dealership for 11 days.. I have some work to catch up on!

Pleased to see a bit of yellow on there!

Submitted evidence so far.. plenty more to come!

Until next time.... :)
